Closure of OSES

The Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for the Sahel (OSES) was established in December 2012 to lead and coordinate UN political efforts in advancing peace and development in the region. Its responsibilities were transferred to the UN Office for West Africa and the Sahel.

Special Envoy for the Sahel met with the UAE Minister of State and Chairwoman of Dubai Cares

Dakar, 11 August 2015 - The UN Special Envoy for the Sahel, Ms. Hiroute Guebre Sellassie, concluded on Thursday 6 August 2015, a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). During her visit, Mrs. Hiroute Guebre Sellassie met with her Excellency Reem Ebrahim Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State and Chairwoman of Dubai Cares to discuss the challenges and the threats facing the Sahel countries, and ways of enhancing partnership and cooperation for the implementation of the United Nations Integrated Sahel Strategy (UNISS).
