On 15 October, SRSG for Central Asia and Head of UNRCCA Kaha Imnadze participated in a TROIKA meeting with Eduards Stiprais, European Union Special Representative for Central Asia, and Kate Fearon, Director of the OSCE Conflict Prevention Centre, on the margins of the Fergana Peace Forum held in the city of Fergana, Uzbekistan.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the three partners to exchange views on key regional developments, discuss shared priorities, and explore ways to strengthen practical cooperation across Central Asia.

Discussions focused on several strategic issues, including developments in Afghanistan and their impact on regional security; regional water management in the context of broader environmental challenges; border security and management; human rights and fundamental freedoms; and the growing importance of enhancing regional connectivity as a driver of stability and cooperation.

The participants also examined concrete areas where joint efforts could be further strengthened. These include reinforcing supporting cross-border cooperation and connectivity initiatives; improving coordination on water, energy and climate resilience; promoting inclusive governance; and advancing gender equality and youth empowerment as integral components of regional cooperation and stability.

The SRSG Imnadze reaffirmed UNRCCA’s commitment to close coordination with the OSCE and the European Union, building on the comparative advantages of each organization.

Regular TROIKA exchanges continue to serve as a practical and flexible format for advancing preventive diplomacy, fostering regional cooperation and trust, and promoting a more coherent and complementary engagement by international and regional partners in support of a stable, secure and connected Central Asia.
