SRSG Kaha Imnadze visits Dushanbe

On 22 October, as part of his visit to Dushanbe, Kaha Imnadze, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Central Asia, Head of the UNRCCA, met with H.E. Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan. The meeting provided an opportunity for an in-depth exchange on key regional issues, including transboundary water management and the evolving situation in Afghanistan. Both sides emphasized the critical importance of strengthening regional cooperation in addressing these complex challenges. They further welcomed the progress achieved in the context of the border agreement between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, reached earlier this year, recognizing it as a significant step toward fostering regional stability and mutual confidence. The interlocutors also exchanged views on upcoming counter-terrorism efforts, including those being advanced within the framework of the "Dushanbe Process".

Furthermore, the SRSG met with Ms. Bunafsha Fayziddinzoda, Chairperson of the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, for a discussion on current and long-term priorities under the Women Leaders’ Caucus initiative, which is presently chaired by Tajikistan. The meeting focused on advancing efforts to promote the meaningful participation of women in preventive diplomacy across the region.

Throughout his discussions, SRSG Kaha Imnadze, underscored the prevailing atmosphere of constructive dialogue and enhanced regional cooperation among the Central Asian States, and reaffirmed the readiness of UNRCCA to continue supporting these efforts in close partnership with all stakeholders.
