Last week the Secretary-General and Under-Secretary-General Griffiths briefed you on the very grave humanitarian situation in Syria. As they underlined, the three prongs of the framework of resolution 2585 – cross-line, cross-border, and early recovery – have been absolutely essential to bringing life-saving, and life-sustaining, humanitarian assistance to all parts of Syria during the past extremely difficult year for the Syrian people.

أطلعكم الأمين العام ووكيل الأمين العام غريفيث الأسبوع الماضي على الوضع الإنساني الخطير للغاية في سوريا. وكما أكدوا، فإن المحاور الثلاثة للق ارر 2585 – وهي تقديم المساعدات عبر الخطوط، وعبر الحدود، والتعافي المبكر –كانت جميعها ضرورية حتى يتسنى تقديم المساعدة الإنسانية المنقذة للحياة والمبقية على الحياة إلى جميع أنحاء سوريا خلال العام الماضي العسير الذي مر على الشعب السوري. ومع ت ازيد الاحتياجات الإنسانية وارتفاع أعداد المدنيين الذين هم في حاجة
ماسة للمساعدة، فمن الضروري أن يحافظ المجلس على هذا الإطار وأن يمدده لمدة اثني عشر شه ار إضافية.
