On 4 June 2018, the Special Representative of the Secretary General for West Africa and the Sahel, Mohamed Ibn Chambas received a delegation of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) led by its Commandant, Air vice Marshall Griffiths Evans. During the meeting, SRSG Ibn Chambas and the Air vice Marshall Griffiths Evans mainly discussed prevention of terrorism and the strengthening of the cooperation between United Nations especially UNOWAS and KAIPTC.
