Closure of UNMIL

The United Nations Mission in Liberia was established in October 2003 to support for the implementation of a ceasefire agreement and peace process, and to assist with the maintenance and restoration of law and order throughout Liberia. The mission successfully completed its mandate on 30 March 2018.

The Political Analysis Section monitors, analyzes and informs across Mission mandated areas. It also supports the SRSG and DSRSGs’ good offices. Some specific areas of engagement include the Executive, Legislature, the National Elections Commission (NEC), Constitution Review Committee, political parties, and civil society groups-with a particular focus on women and youth groups. Its activities are grouped into Governance and Political Issues; economic and Social Issues; and Peace and Stability Issues.
