The Special Representative ANNADIF concludes a two-day visit to Niger

 The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office in West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Mahamat Saleh ANNADIF, concluded today, 9 September, a two-day visit to Niger.

During his visit, the Special Representative was received in audience by H.E. Mr. Mohamed Bazoum, President of the Republic of Niger. Mr. ANNADIF welcomed the resumption of the work of the National Council for Political Dialogue (CNDP), proof of the commitment of Nigerien political actors to work towards strengthening national reconciliation and reinforcing democratic culture.

While welcoming the progress made in the fight against terrorism, Special Representative ANNADIF also stressed the importance of cooperation and solidarity among the States of the region and encouraged Niger in its commitment to a better synergy of actions.

Mr. ANNADIF reiterated the support of the United Nations to the Government and people of Niger in their efforts for peacebuilding and prosperity.

The Special Representative also held talks with H.E. Mr. Mahamadou Issoufou, Former President of the Republic of Niger, on the Joint United Nations Strategic Assessment on Security and Development in the Sahel, which is under his guidance.
