ANNADIF Renews the Commitment of UNOWAS and the United Nations Country Team to Support Sierra Leone

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office in West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Mahamat ANNADIF, concluded today his visit to Sierra Leone.

This visit is part of his familiarization tour in the sub region in his new capacity as Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS).

During his visit, the Special Representative was received in audience by His Excellency, the Vice-President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh. He also spoke with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, David John Francis.

Discussions addressed various topics related to the national and regional situation, and the need to strengthen United Nations support to consolidate peace and democracy in Sierra Leone.

While encouraging Sierra Leonean authorities to continue their efforts in favor of a peaceful political climate, Mr. ANNADIF welcomed the various initiatives aimed at strengthening political dialogue and renewed the commitment of UNOWAS and the United Nations country Team to support Sierra Leone in these efforts.

The Special Representative also met with the United Nations country team, as well as the Secretary General of the Mano River Union, Ms. Medina Wesseh.
