In Freetown, The Special Representative ANNADIF Reaffirmed the Commitment of the United Nations to Continue to Support Sierra Leone in Its tireless efforts to Consolidate National Reconciliation, Democracy And Development.
The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Mahamat Saleh ANNADIF has concluded his visit to Sierra Leone.
This visit was part of his familiarization tour in the sub region in his new capacity as of Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS).
In Freetown, ANNADIF was received by His Excellency, the President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio with whom he discussed a range of national and regional issues, including on ways to reinforce the UN-Sierra Leone partnership to better support the country in its efforts towards consolidating democratic institutions, human rights and development. He commended the government and the people of Sierra Leon for their engagement to consolidate national reconciliation, and encouraged all actors to maintain dialogue to ensure peaceful and inclusive general election in 2023.
