The Special Representative of the Secretary-general and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Mohamed Ibn Chambas, welcomes the approval of the Parity Law by the Parliament of Cabo Verde.

For several years, security threats have increased in West Africa and the Sahel, to the point of dangerously jeopardizing peace and stability of States.

After serving with the United Nations for forty years during a career spanning development and international cooperation, humanitarian coordination, conflict prevention, and peacebuilding, M'Baye Babacar Cissé is now enjoying his retirement.
