Dakar, Saturday 03 June 2023 - The United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), deplores the loss of human lives following the violence that has erupted since Thursday in Dakar, Ziguinchor and other localities in Senegal.

Mr. Leonardo Santos Simão took office as the new Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS). He is also Chairman of the Cameroon-Nigeria Mixed Commission.
