Seminar on the "Contribution of religious and traditional actors to peacebuilding, conflict prevention and resolution in West Africa and the Sahel"

The United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS) is organizing on 16 and 17 December 2021 a regional seminar on the "Contribution of religious and traditional actors to peacebuilding, conflict prevention and resolution in West Africa and the Sahel".

In West Africa and Sahel countries, the role of religious and traditional leaders is increasingly recognized by local populations for peacebuilding initiatives and promoting the values of tolerance and justice. This regional seminar will create the framework and promote the involvement of religious and traditional leaders in peacebuilding efforts. At the end of this two-day meeting, a network of exchanges and sharing of experiences between religious actors, civil society and decision-makers will be launched around a regional platform.

The press is cordially invited to cover the official opening ceremony that will take place on Thursday 16 December 2021 at the King Fahd Hotel, Dakar, at 9:00 am.

The press is also invited to cover the closing ceremony scheduled for Friday 17 December 2021 at 4:30pm.
