Dakar, 24 April 2022 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Mahamat Saleh ANNADIF, has learned with deep emotion of the tragic explosion that occurred on Friday evening in a gasoline refinery in Imo State, southern Nigeria, and which claimed the lives of about 100 people. He expresses his sincere condolences to the Government and people of Nigeria and to the families of the victims, and wishes a speedy recovery to those injured in the explosion.
