Dakar, 13 June 2022 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office in West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Mahamat Saleh ANNADIF learnt with dismay of the attack which took place on the night of Saturday to Sunday 12 June 2022, against the populations of Seytenga, in the Sahel region of Burkina Faso. It strongly condemns this attack, which has claimed many victims and caused the displacement of populations.

The Special Representative expresses his sincere condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the Government and people of Burkina Faso, and wishes a speedy recovery to those injured.

Mr. ANNADIF calls on the Burkinabè authorities to spare no effort to identify the perpetrators of this attack so that they are quickly brought to justice.
