The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Mohamed Ibn Chambas, chaired, on 27 October 2017 in Dakar, the Steering Committee Meeting of the United Nations Integrated Strategy for the Sahel (UNISS). This meeting was enhanced by the presence of the Deputy Secretary General (DSG) of the United Nations, Amina J Mohamed, who chairs the Working Group of the Executive Committee on the Sahel that was established in early July 2017 by the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres.
