17 May 2019 - Accra, 17 May 2019- The United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), in partnership with the UN System Staff College (UNSSC), the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP) and the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center (KAIPTC), organized a Training of Trainers (TOT) workshop at the KAIPTC in Accra on 13-17 May 2019.

This mission, which is part of UNOWAS good offices activities, aimed to discuss with stakeholders the preparation of the presidential elections scheduled for 22 June 2019.

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations extends his deepest condolences to the families of the victims, to the people and to the Government of Burkina Faso.
10 May 2019 - At the invitation of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Mohamed Ibn Chambas, the Heads of the United Nations Missions in West Africa held their 34th High-level Meeting on 10 May 2019 in Bissau, The objective was to strengthen coordination in order to enhance synergies to address common challenges facing the West African and Sahel regions.
