Visit of SRSG Mahamat ANNADIF in Ghana

Starting his familiarization tour of West Africa, the Special Representative for West Africa and the Sahel, Mahamat ANNADIF, has arrived in Ghana.

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Mahamat Saleh ANNADIF has arrived in Ghana’s capital, Accra, as part of his first official West African tour following his appointment, last May.

This morning, the Special Representative met with the UN Country team. He praised the achievements of the UN team, and reiterated the commitment of UNOWAS to supporting the work of the UN in Ghana.

Early afternoon, M. Mahamat Saleh ANNADIF was received by His Excellency, President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo with whom he discussed various issues pertaining to peace and security in the sub-region, including the continuous threats of terrorism and maritime security, and ways to strengthen UN-Ghana partnership.

Mahamat ANNADIF renewed the United Nations’ support to work with Ghana to build on its record of the beacon of democracy in the sub region to consolidate peace and prosperity.
