30 May 2017 -The United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Mohamed Ibn Chambas, concluded today his two-day visit to Niamey, capital of Niger. He had a series of meetings with the authorities of the country, and representatives of the United Nations system. -
23 May 2017 - In the framework of the mobilization of new "emergency measures" for the preservation of peace in Burkina Faso and in accordance with the decision of the Executive Committee, chaired by the Secretary-General, on 23 March 2017, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Mohamed Ibn Chambas, met this Wednesday 03 May, in Ouagadougou, President, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré. 17 May 2017 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Mohamed Ibn Chambas, participated in the third Pan African Forum on Migration which took place from 15 to 17 May 2017 in Kampala, Uganda. The Forum which was held under the theme “towards an African Common Position on the Global Compact on Migration”, aimed at developing a draft outcome document expressing African common position on migration. -

UNOWAS and MISAHEL Representatives meet with the MNJTF in Chad
08 Aug 2016 - From 4 to 8 August 2016, the Africa Union High Representative for Mali and the Sahel (MISAHEL), Mr. Pierre Buyoya, and the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-general for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Mr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, conducted a joint visit to N’Djamena, Chad, as part of the framework of the Ministerial Coordination Platform for the Sahel strategies which is currently chaired by Chad.
